What is Dramatherapy?
Dramatherapy uses drama and theatre processes in order to help individuals in achieving healthy psychological growth and change. These processes include dramatic play, drama games, role-play, story and other techniques, to support clients to work through personal issues in a safe environment (IACAT).

Dramatherapists work in a diverse range of settings including mental health, education, services for people with intellectual and/or sensory disabilities, community and social services, as well as in private practice. The Dramatherapist develops a programme to meet the specific needs and abilities of each client group. Experience in drama is not necessary for participation (IACAT).

A Dramatherapy session usually lasts about an hour. It has a specific structure which is designed to engage clients, but also to ensure they are protected in the process.
